These servers are high-end, state-of-the-art machines equipped with the software necessary to run high performance web applications. We use the latest and most powerful software available. The colocation company that we use has completed a SAS70 Type II Audit, so security is assured.
Your website hosting can be just as important as your website design. Good technical support is crucial, and there is nothing like having it local. Websites on our servers are under our control, and we accept responsibility for the uptime and responsiveness of our servers. If there is a problem, the buck stops here.
Oh, did we mention uptime? This is the amount of time that the servers are up and running and accessible, divided by the total amount of time in a time period. 100% would be perfect. The standard that most hosting companies try to reach is 99.9% uptime – sometimes called "three nines". Many fail to reach this level of reliability. How did we do in 2007? Better than 99.95%, which is halfway between the level that everyone else is trying to reach and absolute perfection! Most of our downtime last year resulted from restarting servers after installing security updates, and this is always done at night or on weekends, so the effect on our clients' websites is minimized.
