What is it? Many of our clients have asked us to design web pages for them that will allow them to upload new images or photos into the pages by themselves.
The technical challenge here is that most people don't know how to (or don't want to deal with) getting their images into a size and resolution that will display properly in their web page. They just want to upload an image taken right out of their digital camera.
Here's the problem... Say you have a 3.3 megapixel digital camera. The images it creates are 2048 by 1536 pixels in "size". Web browsers display images at 72 pixels per inch on average (depending on your monitor size and resolution setting). So if you took an image right out of the digital camera and inserted it into a web page, it would be 28.4 inches by 21.3 inches in size -- probably just a tad larger that you would like!
So we can determine the best physical size for a particular image in your web page and automatically resize your image when you upload it. Problem solved.
How does it work? Some fairly sophisticated software on the web server takes the uploaded image and resizes it according to the specifications we build into your website. Try it yourself below. Upload a high resolution image and watch what happens!
